Enterprise Design: On-line Color Management for Web Presses

Press release from the issuing company

December 5, 2002 -- Enterprise Design Inc, a Midwestern manufacturer of color analyzing equipment, has just completed the first installation of it's unique color management system, for web printing. Unlike typical on line color bar reading equipment, this system reads the CMY and K densities in the "live" or final printed image. It’s color control for web printers without color bars. The high speed color head or scanner, uses proprietary color acquisition technology, capable of capturing color densities in microseconds from the moving web. Through software developed by Kraus Instruments of Michigan, the CMY and K densities are displayed at the press console for the operator. Either prepress or the operator can define the areas on the printed page that they wish to monitor, or "look at", while the press is running. The system is "bolt on equipment" and does not require major press modification or down time. The cost is far less than on line color bar reading systems.
