GMG Scores High Marks at German Digital Proof Shout-Out Forum

Tuebingen, Germany - GMG, a leading developer of professional color management proofing systems, attained the highest scores in tests for the second time this year this time at the Digital Proof Forum. Held from September 30 through October 01 at the Fachhochschule Stuttgart, Hochschule der Medien (advanced Media Academy) in southern Germany, the tests were hosted by the German printing association BVDM (Bundesverband Druck & Medien) and the European Color Initiative (ECI). A crowd of 240 participants came to view various solutions and discuss the viability, requirements and perspectives of digital color proofing. On the first day, 14 different proofing configurations from Agfa, Best, Creo, GCS, DuPont, EFI, Epson, Fujifilm, GMG, HP, Heidelberg, and Kodak Polychrome were given the task of reproducing the new Altona bvdm/ECI/ugra/FOGRA Test Suite 1.0. GMG displayed its GMG ColorProof software on three different digital printers: an Epson 7600, a Creo Iris 4Print and a Fuji PictroProof. The Test Suite, built on the new ISO norm 15930-3 better known as PDF/X-3 specifies the PDF format as well as output on digital proofing systems and imagesetter RIPs. The resulting proofs were evaluated by 16 independent industry experts for various criteria. Repeating its performance at the first Proof Forum in May, 2002, GMG-driven solutions received the highest rankings for visual color conformity with the reference offset prints the Epson 7600 configuration scored the highest.
