Press release from the issuing company

December 9, 2002 -- Transcontinental has taken home the silver medal in the Media and Communications category for its 2001 Annual Report at the CICA Corporate Reporting Awards presented by the Chartered Accountants of Canada in association with the National Post. This is the second consecutive year that Transcontinental's Annual Report is honoured by the CICA and the National Post. The awards, now in their 50th year, serve to recognize excellence and leadership in financial and corporate reporting in Canada. Transcontinental won thanks to its outstanding presentation and superior understandability and readablility. This is the second award garnered this year by Transcontinental's 2001 Annual Report. Last June, in a competition organized by the League of American Communications Professionals entered by over 600 companies from across North America, Transcontinental won the Platinum Award for best annual report in its category and, with a score of 90%, placed third overall among the 100 best Annual Reports of 2001. "Transcontinental is very honoured to have such prestigious awards bestowed upon its Annual Report," said Luc Desjardins, President and COO of Transcontinental. "Such an honour, however, would certainly not have been possible without teamwork, particularly that of the master printers at our Transcontinental Litho Acme plant in Montreal with whom we worked very closely to ensure a productof second-to-none quality." In fact, Transcontinental has considerable expertise in printing annual reports. In 2001 alone, the company printed the annual reports of some 60 major Canadian corporations and pension fund managers.
