manroland active against product piracy

Press release from the issuing company

manroland supports Pro Original campaign of the VDMA (German Engineering Federation) and is taking strict measures against the counterfeiting industry

Trading in counterfeit spare parts and printing press components not only causes enormous economic damage worldwide to manufacturers of printing machinery. Poor-quality counterfeit parts furthermore lastingly impair a printing system's life cycle. Therefore, manroland has taken action to fight product piracy. Under the auspices of the VDMA, the company is currently doing so at the All in Print trade show in Shanghai, for example.

"Original technology pays off" is the core message of the VDMA initiative. The campaign makes it clear that investing in original technology is always an advantage for printing and publishing companies. Manufacturers like manroland guarantee durability and long service life of their products, thus enabling customers to turn out quality products. Only original technology ensures an optimum price/performance ratio and gives the customer decisive competitive advantages.

For manroland, the fight against pirate copies and faked machine parts ranks high in priority, as Georg Riescher, Vice President Newspaper Printing Systems Business Unit of manroland's Plauen factory in Germany, emphasizes: "As a company affected by this, we make full use of the legal possibilities available in combating product pirates and protecting intellectual property rights. For one thing, this is in our very own interests as globally leading manufacturer of sheetfed and web offset printing systems, for another, it is the only way in which we can effectively protect our customers and potential new customers. Cheap, inferior-quality products lastingly impair the life cycle of our highly developed printing systems, whereas the high standards of quality and reliability provided by original machine parts from manroland ensure problem-free operation of the printing systems as well as permanent high quality of the print products for the entire life cycle."

Using spare and wearing parts of questionable origin endanger the customer's warranty rights. "manroland does not assume liability for any damage to our printing systems caused by the customer's use of counterfeit parts," emphasizes Georg Riescher.
