Cobalt CtP makes Indonesian Debut in Jakarta

Press release from the issuing company

MONTREAL, QC -- November 4th, 2002 -- Cobalt CTP made a big impression last month at the Print Paper Pack exhibition in Jakarta, Indonesia (September 4th to 7th). P.T. Raster, Escher-Grad's Indonesian distributor, ran live demonstrations of the Cobalt-8 during the 4-day event which was attended by 25,000 people. The Cobalt-8 was the only CTP device to run live at the exhibition and for most show attendees, the first time they had seen a live CTP demonstration. The Cobalt-8 imaged Mitsubishi Silver Digiplate Alpha violet plates which were printed live on a new Chinese offset press, Tung Fung, located on an adjoining stand. The unique demonstrations drew crowds and discerning printers inspected both plate and print samples concluding that the printed sheets showed almost zero dot gain. "Customers were impressed with the speed and quality of the Cobalt system and surprised at the price - well below any competitive offering." Said Januar Kwan, Managing Director for P.T. Raster Indah. "Frankly speaking many visitors had never heard of Cobalt technology before this show, but Cobalt's speed/quality/price combination was so impressive we closed three sales at the show and expect at least 10 more to follow." "The argument for Cobalt CTP is being won worldwide. After only two years Cobalts are now running in more than 50 countries. Indonesia is a huge market and Cobalts are now proving their worth in areas where price, quality and performance specifications are critical," said Keith Fisher, Strategic Alliances for Escher-Grad Technologies. "We are extremely pleased that our Indonesian distributor had such a dramatic impact at their recent national trade show and look forward to a very successful partnership." Launched in 1999, the Cobalt-8 was the world's first violet 8-up platesetter and laid the ground-work for violet CTP. Now with two plate technologies from four major industry suppliers and others quickly joining the violet consumables market, violet CTP is now the industry standard. Established in 1981, P.T. Raster Indah is a full service distributor of printing and pre-press equipment and supplies. Their 1500 Sq.M. facility in Jakarta, Indonesia houses a full product showroom, warehouse and office administration. Since 1986, Montreal-based Escher-Grad Technologies Inc. has advanced the art and science of high resolution imaging systems. The Cobalt series of CTP systems is the latest innovation in Escher-Grad's long history of achievements and service to the printing industry. A strong commitment to aggressive levels of R & D ensures the technological leadership position that results in superior imaging systems.
