ImageX Grants Patent License to Printcafe

Press release from the issuing company

KIRKLAND, Wash., Oct. 31 -- ImageX (R), Inc. the leading provider of online solutions for distributing, managing and producing sales and marketing materials, today announced that it has granted Printcafe Systems Inc., a non-exclusive, worldwide license on three ImageX patents covering the automated hosted prepress process and the file conversion process in an automated print system. Printcafe is obtaining rights under ImageX's three patents for use in an automated print procurement product offering that will be supported, in part, by Creo, Inc. The license provides for a royalty arrangement, the details of which will remain confidential. "This license agreement represents substantial validation of both the uniqueness and value of our technology in the print industry," said Rich Begert, president and CEO. "Printcafe and the companies they acquired have been selling technology solutions to the print industry for years. We believe that this license agreement with Printcafe is another validation of the significance of our technology and the inherent benefits it provides to printers and their customers." "The strength of our patent portfolio continues to grow, and this third license is an important milestone," said Mariam Naini, vice president and general counsel. "We believe that there are many more licensing opportunities within our immediate reach and we will continue to pursue them."
