HP Brings High-Speed Digital Solutions To SGIA 2002/DPI Conference

Press release from the issuing company

Integrated Printing, Proofing and Workflow Tools Demonstrated at Booth 4046 ST LOUIS, Missouri, October 30, 2002 -- HP (NYSE:HPQ) today announced its participation as an exhibitor at the Screenprinting & Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA)’s annual convention & exposition, held this year at the America’s Center in conjunction with DPI Conference-St. Louis. Expected to attract imaging technology professionals from 49 states and 43 countries, SGIA ‘02/DPI Conference marks the first time that HP, a leading global provider of products, technologies, solutions and services to consumers and businesses, will have an official presence at the event. HP large-format printing, proofing, and workflow management will be showcased at Booth 4046, along with two high-speed digital color presses for screenprinting applications – the HP Indigo Press ws2000, for short runs of high-quality full-color labels on demand, and the HP Indigo Press s2000, which brings the advantages of on-demand variable data printing to the screen and specialty markets. HP will be joined at the booth by die-cutting systems manufacturers Spartanics and Associated Pacific Machine Corp. for live demonstrations of streamlined digital printing and converting into finished parts, including nameplates, overlays and membrane switches as well as ad specialties such as magnets and mousepads, on substrates that include polyester, PVC and polycarbonate. Both HP Indigo presses on display at SGIA ’02 have an all-digital workflow that eliminates time spent on films and plates and both feature the unique HP Indichrome ink-mixing system, which allows corporate colors to be printed with almost no downtime. In addition, both presses come with optional HP Yours Truly personalization software that enables every printed piece to be unique. "HP’s one-stop integrated solution for high-value graphic attachments incorporates digital variable data technology that allows different colors, graphics and text to be printed on a wide range of substrates," said Vince Pentella, national sales manager, industrial markets, HP Indigo North America. "Combined with the rapid-die change capabilities offered by our high-end converting partners, the result is increased flexibility, production and profits for a wide variety of industrial applications." Also being featured is HP Production Flow, an advanced integrated open software and hardware system that helps automate and manage the entire production workflow process. In addition, two innovative new printers from the HP Designjet series will be demonstrated: the HP Designjet 5500, the first large-format device to offer direct file submission via the web, and the HP Designjet 50ps, which allows graphic designers and prepress professionals to generate proofing files with the assurance of accurate and consistent color no matter where the files are printed.
