Oce Introduces VarioStream 7000 Family of Continuous Forms Digital Printers

Press release from the issuing company

ANAHEIM, CA, OCTOBER 28, (Xplor booth # 632)—Oce, a leader in digital document management and delivery technology, today announces the worldwide launch of the new Oce VarioStream 7000 family of continuous forms printing systems at the Xplor 23rd Global Electronic Document Systems Conference and Exhibit. Demonstrating the strength of a long-standing commitment to providing future-proof technology that ensures long-term flexibility and scalability, the exciting new generation of systems will be unveiled for the first time at Xplor Booth 632 and will be shown with intelligent workflow software, pre- and post-processing devices and advanced finishing systems delivering true end-to-end document solutions. Specifically developed to address the unique needs of converging, multi-vendor environments as well as the applications of the transactional and Print-On-Demand arenas, the Oce VarioStream 7000 family of continuous forms digital printers is built on the foundation of the Oce Adaptable Imaging Architecture (AIA). Translating a 25-year history of leadership and scalable product development, in production printing, into a hardware architecture that addresses modern document production challenges, the Oce AIA combines proven achievements with new technologies to deliver a future-proof hardware platform for flexible growth and expansion. The Oce VarioStream family name combines Vario, reflecting support for Variable Input and Output, and Stream, which expands on the proven technology behind previous product lines. Raising the industry-wide performance benchmark for digital continuous forms printers, the new Oce VarioStream 7000 product line is scalable from 190 up to nearly 1300 images per minute. The new family of next-generation printers offers customers an unprecedented choice of solutions, including speed switchable systems for convergent applications, and high-speed systems for the most demanding environments. Providing today’s print operations with the powerful, yet flexible production tools they need to handle high-volume transaction printing, publishing, and complex convergent applications, the Oce VarioStream 7000 family of systems combine superior imaging technology with advanced controller technology. These core features are complemented by extensive capabilities including flexible paper transport options, pinless and pinfed paper handling, edge-to-edge printing, and support for CustomTone highlight (spot) color, MICR, and high-speed black and white printing. "With the Oce VarioStream 7000 family continuous forms products, customers in corporate and commercial print environments are strategically positioned to benefit in several critical ways—the new technology delivers faster speeds, helps improve uptime and productivity, supports demanding throughput volumes and helps customers get to market faster with new applications, while offering the industry’s lowest total cost of ownership." stated Carl Joachim, vice president of marketing for Oce Printing Systems USA, Inc. The Oce VarioStream 7000 family of devices break new ground in their ability to print 240, 300, and 600 dpi data on all models as a standard feature, making it easier for customers to print any job without upgrading the system. Also available are configurations with flexible speed switching to adapt to the changing requirements of converging environments. These capabilities are underscored by the industry’s lowest total cost of ownership, strategically positioning customers in both corporate and commercial print environments to improve uptime and productivity, to support demanding throughput volumes and accelerate their time to market with new applications. Engineered for Customizable Performance Today and Scalability for Tomorrow With more than 20 different models, the new Oce VarioStream 7000 digital solutions can be individually configured to meet customers’ unique production requirements. Every device in the family can be customized in terms of processors, memory, consumables, image quality, and speed to meet a multitude of requirements—and adapt as new opportunities emerge. With support for multiple data streams, applications and environments, the new convergent systems position print operations to maximize the use of their digital assets and do more with less expense, effort, and resources. In Europe, there are currently 30 customers benefiting from the new product. Oce VarioStream 7650cx Twin: High-Speed Flexibility in Continuous Forms Printer In its booth at Xplor, Oce will showcase the flagship VarioStream model providing the highest level of performance in the next-generation VarioStream family - the Oce VarioStream 7650cx Twin. The Oce VarioStream 7650cx Twin produces duplex output at a rate of nearly 1300 images per minute and has a duty cycle of 38.5 million images per month. The Oce VarioStream 7650cx Twin will be shown for the first time at Xplor 2002 in a technology demonstration that integrates implementation of the new Universal Printer Pre- and Post-Processing Interface (UP3I). With the new interface and the new high-speed printer, Oce demonstrates how print operations can dramatically improve productivity and speed with a single method of communication between all pieces of equipment in a digital production line. The Oce VarioStream 7400 Twin Printing System for High Quality Publishing Applications Also being shown for the first time at Xplor will be the new Oce VarioStream 7400 Twin printing system. Showcasing the ability to produce high-quality publishing applications, the new Oce VarioStream 7400 Twin will produce a direct marketing piece and it will run in-line with the new Oce InvisiVision tracking system which will be demonstrated adding invisible customer data and control marks to track document usage and marketing value.
