Melissa Data Releases ListWare 4.0

Press release from the issuing company

Free data formatting program allows for easy transfer of postal files for NCOA processing. Anaheim, CA (October 28, 2002) -Data services provider Melissa Data today announced the release of ListWare 4.0, a patented software program used for submitting postal files to Melissa Data for National Change of Address (NCOA) matching. The announcement was made here at the Xplor 2002 conference and exhibition. ListWare allows a company to extract from a database only the fields that are relevant for comparison of records against the U.S. Postal Service's NCOA database. ListWare formats the appropriate fields in the company's list and then compresses and encrypts the file for secure online submission to Melissa Data for address updating. ListWare is easy to install and simple to use. A friendly help wizard guides the user through all the steps, including selecting services, formatting data fields, calculating fees, transferring files and managing returned files. The newest version of this popular utility includes Address Check Plus (CASS certification), Duplicate Check and Area Code Update service options. Moreover, first-time users of ListWare can get up to 15,000 records processed at no cost. Melissa Data offers ListWare as a free download and encourages businesses to use the NCOA service option at least twice per year. "Use of NCOA is not only one of the requirements for First Class mailing discounts offered by the USPS, but it also helps businesses stay in touch with valuable customers and prospects as they move," said Raymond Melissa, president of Melissa Data. "This is a proactive way for business mailers to update their address databases and remove the duplicates prior to mailing." The NCOA process matches a company's mailing list against a database of address changes submitted to the Postal Service. The USPS file contains more than 152 million records and 48 months of permanent address changes. According to the USPS, more than 40 million individuals, families and businesses move each year, meaning that up to 20 percent of the people or companies in a database could have a new address. ListWare may also be used to process files for other data enhancements such as MCOA (multi-source change of address), address and phone append, SIC append and DSF.
