Thomas Hauser to Lead MarComm for MAN Roland Druckmaschinen Group

October 17, 2002 -- Effective October 1, 2002, Thomas Hauser, 35, is head of Corporate Marketing & Communications of the MAN Roland Druckmaschinen Group Responsible for all national and international marketing and communication activities of the world's second-largest printing press manufacturer, he reports directly to Board Chairman Gerd Finkbeiner. Hauser had been the company press spokesman and head of Corporate Communications since January 2001. He remains press spokesman. After receiving his degree in Business Management in 1993, Hauser, who comes from Augsburg, began his career a trainee in the publishing field, and quickly moved up to the position of product manager. He came to the Marketing department of MAN Roland in October 1995, where his initial responsibilities included market, marketing, and media research. He had been responsible for all international marketing activities in the publications printing business sector since 1998. In his new, expanded role, Hauser would like to build up the dialog with customers and the trade public, make transparent the USPs of MAN Roland as well as promote the idea of market leadership and branding, strengthen contacts to the opinion maker and business press, and reorganize MAN Roland's participation at trade fairs and other industry events with the objective of concentrating efforts more effectively and customer friendly. "Also," says Hauser, "my team and I want our activities to focus more on our technological leadership and MAN Roland's consulting and systems competence, and in doing so ensure that we create, for one or the other, an industry highlight. Our message is that we of MAN Roland are, and will remain, the competent partner of choice for our core customers, printing companies, printers, and publishers around the world." The former head of the Marketing sector, Dr. Bernd Egert, 52, will concentrate at his own request on his duties as managing director of Symbiotix, the communications agency founded at the beginning of the year (as reported). MAN Roland has a 50% share in Symbiotix.
