Quark Previews Web Copyfitting for QuarkDMS

Press release from the issuing company

BARCELONA, Spain (Ifra Expo) -- October 14, 2002 -- Quark Inc. today introduced QuarkDMS WebCopyDesk, new professional copy-fitting software that will help publishers cut costs associated with managing content submitted by remote editorial staff. QuarkDMS WebCopyDesk lets writers use a Web browser to place and fit stories directly onto QuarkXPress pages stored in Quark Digital Media System (QuarkDMS). It gives remote staff members the tools to work with in-house production processes in a controlled, easy-to-use environment. Work seamlessly with QuarkXPress Based on Quark Dynamic Document Server (QuarkDDS) technology, QuarkDMS WebCopyDesk uses the same text processing engine as QuarkXPress, so copy moves smoothly between editorial staff and designers. QuarkDMS WebCopyDesk displays documents correctly and with accurate typography -- even if the required fonts or QuarkXPress software are not available on the user's local machine. Writers using QuarkDMS WebCopyDesk can view articles in a WYSIWYG view and type in a galley view; work in precise article geometry to eliminate reflow; manually apply bold or underline formatting to text; and access the style sheets in QuarkXPress documents -- all from a Web browser. Page geometry cannot be modified in QuarkDMS WebCopyDesk, and system administrators can take advantage of the sophisticated QuarkDMS security features to determine who has access to what files and text boxes. After submitting a story, editors can define metadata and set its workflow status. Freedom to work anywhere "QuarkDMS WebCopyDesk eliminates the overhead associated with providing additional infrastructure like software, fonts, or even training to external staff members . It's so easy to use that writers can submit content immediately," said Matthias Guenther, the product manager for QuarkDMS. "QuarkDMS WebCopyDesk increases the value of your remote editorial staff by giving them the tools they need to write with exact copy-fit, and submit completed articles through a Web browser from anywhere in the world." Availability QuarkDMS WebCopyDesk can be purchased directly from Quark. Customers in North America who are interested in QuarkDMS can e-mail: [email protected]. In Europe, e-mail: [email protected].
