Successful GraphExpo for KBA: 74 Karat Coater Press Debuts in USA

Press release from the issuing company

GraphExpo, Chicago, which closed its doors on October 9, saw a coater version of our B2 DI offset press, the 74 Karat, making its debut in the USA. Job changes on the press took less than 17 minutes and the print quality was exceptionally good. One of the big advantages of the new aqueous coater is that the sheets can be finished immediately or passed through the press a second time as soon as the plates have been re-imaged. The 74 Karat at the fair printed a four-page brochure with an immediate second pass because the plates had already been imaged with the front and back layouts. Another advantage with the Karat is that the sheets are printed on the underside in the first pass, so the pile does not have to be turned over, just turned round. Despite the sluggish US economy we did a fair amount of business at GraphExpo. The 74 Karat coater press demonstrated was snapped up by DigiLink, a pre-press enterprise with branches in Virginia and New York. More sales are in the pipeline. We also sold a string of Rapida 105s, even though no conventional sheetfed offset presses were exhibited on the stand. The popularity of this B1 press is steadily spreading beyond the packaging sector to the commercial market, and we are out to pump up sales to the same level it has achieved in the US large-format sector, where we are a leading supplier.
