Standard Register Automates Patient Statement Process For Hospital System

Press release from the issuing company

DAYTON, Ohio & DALLAS--Oct. 11, 2002--Standard Register Fulfillment Services announced today that it has been awarded a multi-year contract to manage the statement processing of Parkland Health & Hospital System, Dallas. Standard Register will completely automate Parkland's patient statement process, resulting in enhanced customer service, a 90-percent reduction in cycle time and a 15-percent reduction in costs. Previously, Parkland's monthly patient statement process was labor intensive -- with steps including ordering and maintaining materials, envelopes and supplies; printing and decollating the statement forms; bursting, trimming, folding and inserting statements into envelopes; and coordinating external vendors for mailing. Generating over 1.5 million billing statements a year, Parkland saw a significant opportunity to improve customer satisfaction, efficiency and cash flow by automating the process. "We strive to deliver superior patient care, and that extends beyond the physical care we provide. Our current billing process didn't demonstrate that same commitment to quality, so we knew we needed to make a change. We were looking for a partner who could provide an automated operation that guaranteed turnaround in 24 to 48 hours," remarked Ted Lyons, manager of patient billing and collections for Parkland. "With Standard Register's capabilities in statements and fulfillment and the fact that it had already demonstrated strong service and quality in its other services to us, we looked to Standard Register for the solution." Standard Register was already providing Parkland's custom and standard forms, custom envelopes and labels, booklets and training manuals, and perforating and laminating services. The new statement program uses a digital imaging process that eliminates the need for Parkland to store preprinted forms in house and gives Parkland the ability to customize statements quickly and easily. And, since all billing information is transmitted electronically to Standard Register, the statements are printed and mailed within 48 hours. "We developed a custom solution and implementation plan to successfully transition Parkland's manual multi-step process into a turnkey outsourcing program," said George Stubbs, vice president - operations, Standard Register Fulfillment Services. "This automated solution will let Parkland concentrate on delivering state-of-the-art medical care while stimulating cash flow for a healthier bottom line." "Standard Register has created a long-term solution that will not only help us meet our goals today but position us to handle any future growth. The development of this program proved to us that Standard Register is a solutions partner focused on adding value and driving customer service," said Berniece Albrecht, Parkland's director of patient billing and collections.
