EFI and Heidelberg Partner to Enhance Customer Workflow and Productivity

Velocity Workflow Software Now Available for Heidelberg Digimaster 9110 CHICAGO, Illinois - October 7, 2002 - Electronics For Imaging (Nasdaq: EFII), the world leader in software and hardware imaging solutions for network printing, today announced a new partnership with Heidelberg USA to distribute EFI's Velocity(tm) workflow software for high speed production printing. The software is now available for Heidelberg's Digimaster 9110 black and white production engine, offering robust workflow and productivity advantages to Heidelberg's customers. The companies will also collaborate to develop a fully integrated Velocity solution for Heidelberg's new SmartBoard(tm) technology, bringing even greater functionality and production workflow control to 9110 environments. Velocity's centralized job management and load balancing capabilities offer an easy to use production printing workflow solution that takes full advantage of the Digimaster's rapid image processing and fast reproduction speed. Velocity manages multiple devices as a group, intelligently routing jobs to the most efficient devices to maximize equipment utilization. The software also automatically splits pages between color and black and white engines and then merges the printed pages together in the Heidelberg Inserter tray, eliminating hand-collation. Additional new features allow easier handling of complex documents, allowing print shops to further streamline production and manpower costs. The module provides direct support for the 9110 engine via Heidelberg's new 5.0 Print Production Software.
