Scitex Digital Printing Demonstrates Printing Systems at Graph Expo

Press release from the issuing company

October 07, 2002 (CAP Ventures) Scitex Digital Printing unveiled a full line of printing systems to attendees at Graph Expo and Converting Expo 2002. Included in the products exhibited were the recently announced Passport 4300 and Liberty 7122 Printing Systems, a new Print Station 91 that features page-wide (9 inches of print) printing at web speeds of 1000 fpm, and full page, process color printing on the VersaMark Vantage Printing System. Passport and Liberty offer printers added capability to print on a wider variety of substrates, including glossy papers, metal, film, and plastics. Passport features 2.58 inches of print and speeds up to 330 fpm, while Liberty provides 2.13 inches of print and speeds up to 1000 fpm (model dependent). Both printers are designed for ease of use, but offer industrial ruggedness for a production environment. Bundled with each product is the new, highly graphical, Windows-based MailScape XP software for job setup and control. For printers requiring 100% variable data, page-wide printing, the new 9" printhead controlled by the Print Station 91 offers printing at web speeds of 1000 fpm. VersMark Vantage, a fully integrated printing system, incorporates the company's Business Color technology for full production and low operating cost. The modular, high-speed printhead is designed for integration into existing printing environments and combines speed, quality, and flexibility that are suited for high-volume commercial printers. For an integrated process color printing solution, the Vantage Printing System, released in April of this year, offers speeds of up to 325 fpm and is available with roll-to-roll, roll-to-sheet and roll-to-fanfold finishing options. Also demonstrated in the booth were the Composer data preparation software for variable-data process color printing and the Color Proofer. The Composer software is used to design and lay out documents and create print jobs for all configurations of Scitex printing systems. A wide variety of applications such as personalized direct mail, which use fixed or variable text and fixed or variable graphics, are supported. The current release of the software also supports business graphics (pie charts and bar graphs) and over 50 bar codes, including 2-D bar codes such as PDF 417 and DataMatrix. The Color Proofer is a proofing solution that uses ICC Profiles to enable users to generate color-matching proofs of the press output to screen or a hard copy output device. These proofs are a color and quality match to the prints from a VersaMark Business Color Press. The Color Proofer includes Scitex software, the Monaco Profiler, and Best Colorproof software.
