CGS AND CANON U.S.A. DEBUT PROOFING SOLUTION AT GRAPH EXPO

Press release from the issuing company

ORIS Color Tuner to drive a wide range of Canon output devices Chicago, IL (October 6, 2002) -- For the first time, at Graph Expo 2002, CGS Publishing Technologies International will be showing its industry-leading proofing system, ORIS Color Tuner, with Canon’s new line of large-format bubble jet printers. Being shown at the CGS booth (#4265) are the Canon imagePROGRAF W2200, W7200 and W7250 models. Graph Expo takes place at the McCormick Center here from October 6 – 9. "After extensive testing, we determined that the speed and quality of Canon’s products was a perfect fit for our high-end proofing customers," said CGS CEO Trevor Haworth. "Using the Color Tuner system, these printers can produce contract quality proofs for the most demanding advertisers, publishers and printers." The speed of the Canon devices is also a significant factor for our advertising and publishing customers, Haworth said. ORIS Color Tuner utilizes precise color management, combined with high- quality inks and paper, to produce accurate and consistent proofs for print production. The latest version (5.0) adds automatic device calibration, and enhanced remote proofing capabilities. CGS developers and Canon are working closely together to create the Color Tuner interface for Canon printers. As a result, Color Tuner will output to the devices using the native CMYK driver, and will use Canon’s built-in dithering patterns to achieve optimum results. The Canon imagePROGRAF W7200 and W7250 are six-color high-speed and high-quality graphics printers that feature Canon’s MicroFine Droplet Technologytm and create output of up to 600 x1200 dpi. Both devices use continuous, roll-fed paper, with outputs of 36 inches and 24 inches, respectively. The high-speed imagePROGRAF W2200 is a six-color graphic arts proofing printer for paper up to 13" x 19". The W2200 creates output with resolution of up to 2400 x 1200 dpi at speeds as fast as 4 pages-per-minute (ppm) for letter-size prints in standard mode and 6 ppm for 11" x 17" color prints in high-speed mode.
