ScenicSoft and Agfa Expand OEM Relationship

Press release from the issuing company

Lynnwood, Washington, October 6, 2002 - ScenicSoft and Agfa announced today the strengthening of their partnership with the extension of the current OEM contract until December 2005. The agreement has also been expanded to include Pandora as the preferred step-and-repeat solution for Agfa workflows. Under terms of the new OEM agreement, Agfa will continue its use of Preps, the industry leader in imposition software with over 20,000 seats worldwide, as the exclusive imposition solution within Apogee Series 3. ApogeeX will provide integration with the standard version of Preps, allowing users to print job tickets as PJTFs from Preps to ApogeeX. Pandora, the only PDF-based packaging step-and-repeat solution, will be added to the Agfa portfolio of products as the recommended solution for the ApogeeX workflow for the packaging industry. Pandora's support of JDF, as well as PDF, PJTF, PCF, and CIP3, will make it even easier for Agfa's users to streamline their workflows. "This is a logical extension of a long, successful, and thriving relationship between Agfa and ScenicSoft," says Erik Smith, president of ScenicSoft. "This allows ScenicSoft and Agfa to continue to cooperate closely in the future on implementing systems based on open standards, such as JDF, PJTF, and PDF. In view of the pending acquisition of ScenicSoft by Creo, the extension of the Agfa agreement clearly indicates the commitment both companies share in offering solutions that incorporate leading products like Preps and Pandora, and that are based on open standards such as JDF, PJTF, and PDF." "Automation is the key to streamlining print-production processes," says Johan Berlaen, general manager of Agfa Digital Solutions. "Agfa customers know the value of the suite of ScenicSoft products and will greatly benefit from the addition of Preps and Pandora to our workflow solutions. We are excited about extending this partnership with the ScenicSoft family of products."
