Objective Advantage to Preview Catalyst JDF Tool at Graph Expo

Press release from the issuing company

At show to discuss JDF adoption and true impact Houston (September 30, 2002) -The JDF Development Platform (JDP), created by Houston-based software business developer Objective Advantage, Inc. to serve as a catalyst to the implementation of JDF-based workflows in the printing industry, will be previewed at Objective Advantage's booth (#5236) during Graph Expo in Chicago, IL, October 6-9, 2002. In addition, Objective Advantage will participate in JDF seminars hosted by CIP4, the international standards body for the print industry. The CIP4 seminars, "What is CIP4's JDF and how can it help my print workflow" and "Developer's Seminar, Technical Panel and Status of CIP4's JDF," will take place on Tuesday, October 8, in Room N229, located in the North Building, Level 2, McCormick Place. Objective Advantage's JDP is designed to help add true Job Definition Format (JDF) integration capabilities to print industry software and equipment providers and facilitate industry-wide adoption of JDF. JDF is the standard advocated by CIP4 to simplify print workflow information exchange between different applications and systems. "JDF has yet to provide full efficiency and value because its development consists of print production systems and equipment that merely import or export JDF and then translate JDF job ticket information into proprietary formats, rather than directly using JDF internally," said Gareth O'Brien, vice president of Objective Advantage. "JDP is designed for software and equipment vendors as a tool that takes the massive JDF specification and makes it easy to create truly JDF compliant systems and equipment. True JDF compliance will then improve integration between systems and ultimately leave systems and equipment choices in the hands of the print shop, or any organization using print industry equipment and systems." JDP grew from Objective Advantage's experience while working with TripleArc, a leading provider of integrated procurement solutions for the print industry. Objective Advantage assisted in analysis, design and development of the TripleArc Print Catalogue System and later, the TripleArc Collaborative Workflow System (CWS). The TripleArc CWS is a secure, integrated online procurement solution that allows all parties in the print process to collaborate online. The system streamlines communication and enhances buyer/supplier relationships by automating and simplifying the ordering, processing and tracking of printed jobs and channeling all information through a central network hub. Developed entirely around JDF, TripleArc's CWS is one of the first in the industry to utilize the JDF standard for information exchange. JDP is a comprehensive toolkit that will go beyond current JDF development tools and enable developers to more rapidly integrate JDF, JMF and PrintTalk into web, client/server and embedded applications. The platform will be available on .NET and Java, the leading web-enabled platforms. Regardless of platform chosen, applications will benefit from the developer-years that have gone into JDP.
