Enthusiastic Customers Check Out Agfa Prepress Solutions at Graph Expo

Press release from the issuing company

Booth Traffic Swells as Customers Seek Out Agfa’s Award-winning Products Ridgefield Park, NJ – October 18, 2002 – Multiple awards and exceptionally high booth traffic capped an extremely successful Graph Expo 2002 for Agfa Graphic Systems, the company reported today. Throngs of attendees streamed into Agfa’s booth to see first-ever demos of ApogeeX, Agfa’s next generation JDF-based workflow, and Delano, Agfa’s web-based automated project management system for printers. Agfa’s sales staff rang up higher than expected sales, proving that many in the industry were eager to make the investments necessary to remain competitive. Agfa’s Presentation Theater also proved to be a hit with show attendees, as thousands came to learn about Agfa technology, including Sublima hybrid screening, closed-loop color proofing management, ApogeeX, Delano and The Graphic Enterprise, Agfa’s approach to full system integration. In addition to gaining knowledge about Agfa’s products and services, attendees were able to learn about the prepress leader’s unique approach to success in the printing industry. Award-winning Solutions Agfa also earned high praise from the industry's most respected consultants. Several Agfa products won recognition by winning several Must See ‘Ems at the show, awards that highlight the industry’s newest technology and innovations. ApogeeX, Agfa’s next generation workflow, and Agfa’s booth overall, both received "Must See ‘Em" honors. ApogeeX, which was demonstrated at several workstations in the booth and seen publicly for the first time in the U.S., is the most automated, easy-to-use workflow solution on the market. Its sophisticated features – including job management, advanced job tickets, PDF trapping, enhanced connectivity and web approval of pages and flats – are presented in a user-friendly fashion that won over anyone who witnessed the demos. Agfa's Xcalibur 45 was also garnered "Worth-a Look" honors. The Xcalibur 45 is an 8-up thermal platesetter, the first to use the advanced Grating Light Valve (GLV) technology. At the show, Agfa announced the new Xcalibur 45E, an entry-level version of the platesetter that was originally launched at IPEX earlier this year. The new entry level model outputs 15 full-format plates an hour at 2400 dpi, in either manual or automatic operation, while the original Xcalibur 45, now known as the Xcalibur 45S outputs 20 full-format plates an hour. "We were thrilled with the continuous activity in our booth -- from the electronic equipment demonstrations to the Theater presentations, show attendees were always able to find something to see and learn about in our booth. Our dedicated staff were continuously busy finding the right solutions for each and every visitor to our booth, whether they were current customers, future customers, or just looking for information," said Susan Wittner, Agfa Marketing Director. "We were also excited to see ApogeeX and the Xcalibur 45 earn such high praise from several trade publications prior to the show. It is gratifying to have the industry recognize and appreciate our hard work and dedication to printers," Wittner added.
