International Typeface Corporation Announces the ITC 1500 Library

Press release from the issuing company

Wilmington, Massachusetts, September 19, 2002 - International Typeface Corporation, a major supplier of fonts and custom typefaces, has released the ITC 1500 Library. Comprised of 1,580 fonts, the library spans ITC's three-plus decades of design and is the only complete ITC library product on the market. The collection contains 245 more fonts than ITC's previous library, and over 650 of the fonts are not available from any other source. The complete ITC 1500 Library can be viewed at www.itcfonts.com/new/1500. Customers will find a blend of popular ITC typefaces, old and new. Among the designs are the classic text faces ITC Avant Garde Gothic, ITC Franklin Gothic and ITC Berkeley Old Style. The library also includes a variety of designs that have emerged in recent years such as ITC Officina and the revamped ITC Conduit family, featuring 29 fonts added this year. A large collection of new styles are marking their debut, including ITC Tabula, designed to be highly legible; ITC Oldrichium, inspired by the calligraphic designs of Czech designer Oldrich Menhart; ITC Batak, motivated by the isolated Southeast Asian Batak culture of Samosir island; ITC Tickle, designed in the likeness of letters from a Sharpie marker; ITC Cinderella, inspired by children's play; and ITC Jeepers, a winner from this year's annual international type design competition held by the Type Directors Club of New York City. "When I began working for ITC in the early 1980s, the library was made up of about 300 typefaces," said Allan Haley, director of words and letters at ITC. "As we announce the ITC 1500 Library with over 1,500 fonts, our designs are still being chosen by a review board of typographic experts and are still being drawn by world-class designers. ITC continues to release fonts using the same high standards for quality and design." The ITC 1500 Library, scheduled for shipment in late October as a single CD-ROM of unlocked typefaces, includes both Postscript and TrueType formats for Macintosh and Microsoft Windows platforms. The product includes licensing for 20 users and is available at an introductory price of $4,999 through January 2003 - a savings of $1,000. For additional sales information, ITC can be reached at 1-866-823-5828.
