Global Graphics Unveils GlobalColor Solution

Press release from the issuing company

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 10 - A comprehensive color workflow solution, that makes it easy for document originators and even novice operators of wide-format color printers to produce color-accurate digital proofs and prints "out-of-the-box," was announced today by Global Graphics Software, a subsidiary of Global Graphics S.A. Global Graphics' new GlobalColor Solution is a PDF-oriented workflow bundle that combines an authentic Harlequin RIP and built-in color management capabilities with PDF creation and editing, and workflow management tools. This tightly-integrated software package is an affordable and sophisticated turnkey workflow solution designed to be matched with specific printing devices for a range of color printing applications. The initial version of the GlobalColor Solution has been designed for the new line of imagePROGRAF printers launched at Seybold today by Canon U.S.A., a pioneer in the wide format printing market and a subsidiary of Canon Inc. GlobalColor Solution will work with the Canon W2200 13" x 19" graphic color printer, and the W7250 24" and W7200 36" large format color printers -- to provide turnkey proofing solutions to meet the needs of document originators and printing professionals for color accurate digital proofs. Bryan Hartong, worldwide vice president of sales for Global Graphics Software, said: "Our collaboration with Canon on the first GlobalColor Solution demonstrates our ability to integrate our PDF, RIP and workflow technologies to form customized solutions aimed at specific applications, which will help create new business prospects for our OEMs by expanding additional market opportunities. "GlobalColor Solution is unique in that it integrates several of Global Graphics' high-performance document, workflow and color technologies into a single, complete package that makes it extremely easy to quickly produce precisely color-controlled proofs and prints from a wide range of files," Hartong explained. Global Graphics products and technologies in GlobalColor Solution include the high-performance Harlequin RIP, the latest version of Jaws PDF Creator and Jaws PDF Editor, MaxWorkFlow technologies for job submission and management, and Harlequin Dispersed Screening (HDS), Error Diffusion Screening (EDS), and Harlequin ICC Profile Processing (HIPP). Using a simple GUI interface, GlobalColor Solution allows document originators to create and edit PDF files or print directly to the printer from native applications, and to control all the features and functionality of the printer from the client application or the PDF job submission tool. It can accept files submitted simultaneously from multiple users in PostScript, TIFF, EPS or PDF formats, even with different job requirements. With little or no set-up, users can drag-and-drop files to hot folders on their desktop, soft proof the PDF output, and prioritize the jobs being sent to proof or print. A job management queuer ensures proper output through automatic media detection, and also provides job status, hold/release, composite preview and reprocess capabilities, as well as letting users specify crop quantity, among other functions. Jobs are automatically held in queue if the target output media is not loaded in the device. Color management capabilities include pre-configured color setups and ICC output profiles for target proofing media and resolution, ICC press profiles for most printing color standards, and automated calibration tools that make it easy for the user to create their own profiles to ensure optimal quality color from their color printer. When bundled with high-speed, high-quality devices like the new Canon imagePROGRAF W2200 printer, and W7250 and W7200 large-format printers, GlobalColor Solution offers precision color proofing quality and accuracy to users in many environments, such as ad agencies, design firms, photo labs and corporate in-house design departments. It also delivers the processing power, reliability and flexibility needed by professional display printers to quickly produce client-pleasing large-format Point-of-Purchase materials, signs, billboards, banners and photographic reproductions -- right out of the box. GlobalColor Solution supports networked servers running Windows NT 4.0/X86, Windows 2000/86 operating systems, and Windows and Macintosh client computers. GlobalColor Solution will be sold by Global Graphics' original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) worldwide to their graphic arts and commercial print customers. GlobalColor Solution end-user support will be provided by Global Graphics' OEMs and by direct telephone hotline. End user pricing for GlobalColor Solution will be set by Global Graphics OEMs. The initial version of the new GlobalColor Solution, designed for the Canon imagePROGRAF W2200, W7250 and W7200 printers, will be available from October 2002.
