Quad/Graphics Launches QuadColor.com, High-Quality Digital Imaging Services

Press release from the issuing company

PEWAUKEE, Wis.--Aug. 27, 2002-- Quad/Graphics introduces QuadColor (www.quadcolor.com), an online resource for consistent, high-quality RGB to CMYK conversions and alterations of digital images. This online service, designed for publishers, catalogers, ad agencies, image stock houses, photo studios and businesses of any size, offers one-day-or-less turnaround, radically reducing the workflow process of converting digital images to a print-ready format. "QuadColor brings critical prepress and Web services fully into the high-speed, digital environment," said Tom Frankowski, Vice President of Imaging Operations at Quad/Graphics. "This online service enables boutique-sized creative groups to easily tap into some of the world's best imaging and color experts and technology for a level of personal and professional services typically accessible only to large businesses." QuadColor offers a high-quality alternative to Photoshop and other off-the-shelf digital conversion software packages that are limited to preset CMYK levels. Using in-depth experience and advanced software, a professional color expert accurately converts and optimizes each RGB image based on the client's specifications and to ensure peak printing quality. An online service to enhance print reproduction is a natural extension of Quad/Imaging, the turnkey, 100 percent digital prepress division of Quad/Graphics. The company has more than 15 years of innovative experience in digital photography, digital imaging and image alterations. Its primary focus is on image quality, color accuracy and consistency from image capture to press. QuadColor applies the same quality approach to CMYK conversions and digital alterations that made Quad/Graphics' high-end drum scanning operations so successful. "We've actually been offering online RGB to CMYK conversions through our RasterLab service for some time," said Mr. Frankowski. "The new QuadColor site has been tremendously simplified and enhanced and brings the process another giant leap forward. It provides each user a secure, personal workspace from which images are sent and corrections are retrieved." In addition to online RGB to CYMK conversions, QuadColor offers color separations, digital photo processing, digital color proofing and image alterations. It can accommodate both low- and high-volume clients, processing an unlimited number of images within 24 hours or less. Priority processing is completed within six hours. Special high-productivity solutions are also available for large-volume clients, including private, secure disk space; a server-based workflow; and more. Clients do not need to purchase additional hardware, software or extra bandwidth to take advantage of the enhanced online service.
