Lanier Worldwide Introduces Two High-Volume Digital Copier/Printers

Press release from the issuing company

ATLANTA--Aug. 19, 2002-- Lanier Worldwide, Inc. today launched the Lanier LD 060 and LD 075 Digital Copier/Printer/Scan Systems, two high-volume solutions that combine advanced digital imaging technology with the latest document management software to bring fast production, high-resolution image quality and versatile document distribution to departmental and production environments. The systems will be available immediately. "The Lanier LD 060 and LD 075 deliver the tools and technology departments need to ramp up productivity, improve document quality and streamline workflow," said Dominic Pontrelli, vice president of Marketing for Lanier. "Their productivity and reliability are outstanding. They copy and print at twice the resolution of many other digital systems. And they give users the ability to take any document -- whether hardcopy or electronic -- and scan it, store it, save it or send it to anyone in the enterprise, quickly and easily." FAST, HIGH-RESOLUTION RESULTS FOR COPYING, PRINTING OR SCANNING The Lanier LD 060 and LD 075 copy, print and scan up to 60 or 75 black-and-white pages per minute. They copy and print at 1200 dpi and scan hardcopy documents at 600 dpi. They also include an automatic one-pass duplex scanner that allows them to operate in duplex mode at their normal rated speeds. Although they can be used as stand-alone systems, they offer optional network connectivity that allows users to access all of their functions directly from a desktop PC. They also have a wireless LAN option so users can connect via laptop. Both systems also feature Next Generation Architecture, an open systems platform that -- unlike proprietary platforms -- enables the LD 060 and LD 075 to integrate with software from Lanier or off-the-shelf packages from third-party providers. To complement this architecture, the systems include a built-in Web browser to take advantage of Web-based applications without using a separate PC or other peripherals. "With Next Generation Architecture, users have a much wider range of utilities to choose from," Pontrelli said. "They can use all of the tools from Lanier, then add other offerings -- such as highly specialized software for their particular business -- as their needs change." Document management utilities from Lanier include the Document Server, which stores frequently used files for print-on-demand applications; Document Mall, which transmits scanned pages to a secure Web site where authorized users can access them from any Web-connected device; Global Scan, which allows scanned documents to be routed as e-mail attachments; and a special utility that tracks print costs by department. MULTIPLE FINISHING OPTIONS The LD 060 and LD 075 offer three separate 3,000-sheet finishers for 50-sheet stapling, 100-sheet stapling or saddle-stitching. All three can be paired with an optional interposer, which adds pre-printed, full-color covers or insert sheets to black-and-white documents. It does this outside the fuser area to prevent smearing, then the system finishes the combined pages as a single document, eliminating the need to collate mixed documents by hand.
