ExtremeZ-IP Improves Network Stability and Performance for PLM Imaging

Press release from the issuing company

Pre-Press Specialist Sees Greater Than 2X Speed Increase on Shared Mac/Windows Network Arlington, VA – August 14, 2002 - Group Logic, developer of best-selling network workflow software products, announced PLM Imaging, a division of the PLM Group, one of Canada's fastest growing commercial printers, uses ExtremeZ-IP to speed file sharing and boost network performance. ExtremeZ-IP is a specialized file and print services system that uses the TCP/IP protocol to dramatically increase throughput between Macintosh clients and a Microsoft Windows 2000 or Windows NT servers. Over 40 individuals on two shifts at PLM Imaging make use of Macintosh workstations to perform a variety of pre-press tasks. Like many organizations whose networks are shared by both Macintosh and Windows systems, PLM Imaging found the standard Macintosh file-sharing capabilities provided by Windows weren't up to supporting the demands of the environment. John Go, vice president of technology for PLM Imaging, recalls, "If there was heavy traffic on the network, the whole network sort of stopped. "Go reports that prior to installing the ExtremeZ-IP software, file searches by users would also bring operations for the entire network to a halt. "When the search was done, the network would start going again," he explains. Go was looking for an answer to his network problems when he encountered the ExtremeZ-IP product at a trade show. Having worked with ExtremeZ-IP for nearly a year, Go is confident his file and print sharing problems are over. "With ExtremeZ-IP you can search, you can do anything, and it keeps on going - we're happy," he explains, adding "We're pleased with ExtremeZ-IP on our Windows 2000 file server - the speed is excellent, we are very thrilled with the two to three times speed increase." About Group Logic Group Logic, Inc., develops wide area network (WAN) and local area network (LAN) workflow solutions to speed and streamline file transfer, file and print services, and remote proofing procedures. The company's solutions include software, customization and integration services, and in-depth product training to maximize return on investment.
