WhatTheyThink educational webinar, sponsored by CREO Color Servers, shares secrets of success

Lexington, Kentucky USA -- WhatTheyThink today announced the opportunity for industry professionals to attend a free printing industry educational webinar. 2009 Survival Guide: Staying in the Game, which will be led by WhatTheyThink Senior Editor Cary Sherburne.  Sponsored by CREO Color Servers, the event will be held Wednesday, February 25th, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm EST (-5 GMT).

No-charge registration is available here.

It’s not news that 2009 is shaping up to be a difficult economic year, although it is just about all you hear on the news.  In any time of economic turmoil, there are always positive actions that can be taken to emerge a stronger, well-positioned organization when the turnaround comes.

“Now is the time to be preparing for economic recovery,” said Sherburne.  “The downturn will reverse—it always does. But our industry is likely to look quite different as the recovery proceeds, driven by a number of factors, not the least of which is the growing use of alternative media in lieu of print.  Join us to hear what successful peers have to say about how they are investing during this difficult period in preparation for the future.”

Sherburne will be joined by:

  • Dave Zamorski, Chief Operating Officer, Associates Graphic Services (AGS) of Wilmington DE.  AGS was selected as a first place winner of the 2008 CIP4 International Print Production Innovation Award. Zamorski serves on the Advisory Board of the Delaware Manufactures Extension Partnership, which works with companies to implement Lean Manufacturing, ISO Certification, Six Sigma Certification and training, plus much more.  Implementation of these techniques at AGS has reduced staff by 28% over the last two years while increasing revenues, leading to higher profitability.
  • Stephen R. Zenger, President & CEO of Zenger Group, Inc.  The Zenger Group is a  family-owned collection of 3 printing and graphic arts companies in Buffalo, New York, that provides one-stop access to a broad range of print services from Photography and Prepress to Print and Mail. In addition to running the company, Zenger is currently Chairman of the Printing Industries Alliance, the New York/Northern New Jersey affiliate of the Printing Industries of America trade association. He also serves on the national board of Printing Industries of America, the board of directors and executive committee of the Buffalo Niagara Partnership and is past chair of Graphic Arts Department Education Council for Erie County Community College.
  • Stephen Mueller, Harper Engraving. The Harper Engraving and Printing Company was founded in 1891 as a provider of fine engraved social stationery for the central ohio market.  Its specialization is in stationery products and small format promotional pieces that are produced by Offset, Thermography, Foil Stamping, Embossing, Die-Cutting, Letterpress Imprinting and Genuine Engraving.  The end users of its products and services range from Brides and Grooms to Law Firms and Corporations of all sizes and types.

“In addition to taking cost out of the operation, companies should be focusing on ensuring that their portfolio of offerings and the skills of their people are aligned with emerging market demands,” said Ilana Jucha, General Manager, CREO Branded Products.  “We are pleased that Messrs. Zamorski and Zenger have agreed to share their experience on this important topic.”

“As 2009 unfolds, WhatTheyThink is working to deliver content that will help our readers emerge as stronger, more well-positioned organizations when the economic turnaround comes,” said Randy Davidson, President, WhatTheyThink. “This session is one of many such educational and informational services we are providing to our readers.  We appreciate the fact that CREO Color Servers is sponsoring this important session, allowing us to make it available at no charge.”

During the webinar, attendees will be able to participate in a drawing for a KODAK DARWIN Desktop VDP Software license.  DARWIN VDP Software is the tool that makes it easy to create a VDP campaign in which nearly anything can change: text, images, color, charts, barcodes, personalized images, personalized URLs, backgrounds, and layouts. DARWIN Software version 3.0 transforms files from ADOBE INDESIGN Software into powerful 1:1 campaigns.

Attendees will also be able to participate in a live question and answer session to get the most from the experience and will be able to view and listen to the presentation using a standard Internet browser with audio streamed via computer.
