NUR Media Solutions Launches NURPAPER

Press release from the issuing company

Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, 12 August 2002 - NUR Media Solutions (NMS), the NUR Macroprinters Ltd. subsidiary that develops and markets a range of consumables for use with wide and superwide format printers, today announced a new blueback paper for solvent-based inks that has been specifically designed for short-duration indoor and outdoor poster and billboard applications. Called NURPAPER BlueBack Wet-Strength, the new paper is targeted at indoor and outdoor, short-duration graphics and advertising applications. The paper base ensures the new substrate is easy to dispose of, making it a cost-effective "green solution." The blueback layer on the back of the NURPAPER BlueBack Wet-Strength media makes the paper opaque so graphics printed on the substrate, when mounted, will provide 99% opacity in wet and dry conditions. The "Wet-Strength" attribute of the new paper ensures printed applications will retain their strength even when several layers are securely glued on top of each other.   "The increasing demand for short run, on-demand personalized wide-format digital printing has placed new demands on consumables, and particularly on paper," says Dirk Driesen, R&D Director at NUR Media Solutions. Driesen continues, "Customers are now looking for better characteristics in texture and appearance and overall process performance for short-run graphics that are displayed for a short period of time. Most papers fall into two categories. Some have good density, but present bleeding problems. Others have good absorption, but lack optical density and contrast. Our NURPAPER BlueBack Wet-Strength paper combines the best of both worlds. It is designed to deliver good density and contrast characteristics, resulting in sharper printouts."
