ImageX Receives U.S. Patent Covering Prepress Automation Processes

Press release from the issuing company

KIRKLAND, Wash., Aug. 8 -- ImageX, the leading provider of online solutions for distributing, managing and producing sales and marketing materials, today announced it has received its fifth patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. This patent (U.S. 6,429,947) covers technology that automates the prepress process. This technology allows ImageX.com to fully automate the prepress processes associated with flawlessly producing a print-ready file without human intervention. By eliminating the need for human touch in the prepress process, the ImageX technology cuts out errors and speeds file preparation, reducing the cost of producing a printed item. "The issuance of this fifth patent signifies a major milestone for ImageX as it is core to our ability to offer highest quality printing and significant cost savings for our customers," said Rich Begert, president and CEO. "By automating the traditionally lengthy and manual prepress process, we have gained substantial efficiencies over traditional printing -- enabling us to deliver an unparalleled accuracy rate of 99.5%. We believe this technology has widespread applications for the print industry, and thus vast opportunities for licensing arrangements."
