Standard Register Expands Business Development Team

Emphasis is on extending the company's capabilities and reach with alliances, acquisitions, and technological advancements with the highest potential for growth and enterprise value DAYTON, Ohio--July 23, 2002-- Standard Register today announced the election of Michael Egan as senior vice president of technology business development and the appointment of Larry Forman as vice president of corporate development and planning. Egan and Forman join with Donna Beladi, vice president of business development, to formulate corporate-level strategy and identify new technologies, capabilities and market opportunities for the company and its strategic business units. This will help further position Standard Register as a growing information solutions company that helps companies improve their business results by leveraging information. "We're focused on being a strategic thought partner to companies, helping them improve processes and leverage technology to drive efficiency and achieve customer loyalty," said Dennis L. Rediker, president and chief executive officer of Standard Register. "To do that we'll continuously grow our capabilities through internal developments, alliances and acquisitions. Michael, Donna and Larry will work closely with the leadership team of Standard Register and our business units to help us accelerate the growth of the company andprovide a broader portfolio of solutions to our clients." Egan is the founder, chairman and former chief executive officer of InSystems Technologies, Inc., Toronto, Canada, a leading provider of e-business solutions for financial services organizations. In recognition of the impact he and his company have made in the insurance industry, earlier this year Egan was named among the 100 Most Powerful People in the Insurance Industry in North America by Insurance - Letter, a daily publication. InSystems has also been recognized as one of the fastest-growing technology companies in the Deloitte & Touche Fast 500 in North America, one of the 50 Best Managed Private Companies in Canada, and one of the Top 100 Employers in Canada. Its other honors include the Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance E-Business Innovation Award and the Hewlett-Packard Award for Innovation in Technology. InSystems was acquired by Standard Register on July 2. Egan's experience also includes founding an additional successful technology company, providing consulting services to North American insurance companies while at Atlanta-based Dyer Wells & Associates, and serving Confederation Life as a designer and developer of on-line systems. He holds a Bachelor of Mathematics degree specializing in computer science and operations research from the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Egan will serve as a company officer, reporting to Rediker. He is responsible for expanding Standard Register's technology business beyond its two technology subsidiaries--InSystems and SMARTworks, LLC. "Michael has outstanding experience and expertise in technology solutions and building winning companies," said Rediker. "He's the right person to help us leverage and build upon our technology expertise, talent and customer relationships across our target markets to significantly grow our business." Forman will help Standard Register identify and execute strategic investments, including acquisitions and alliances on behalf of Standard Register. He will also facilitate the company's strategic planning process. Forman reports to Chief Financial Officer Craig Brown. Prior to joining Standard Register, Forman was a senior vice president at Availant, Inc., a provider of availability and storage management software based in Cambridge, Mass. He also served as vice president of corporate development at Clarus Corporation, Harbinger Corporation and Profit Recovery Group. Forman has extensive experience executing acquisitions, both in the United States and internationally, particularly technology company acquisitions that play a critical role in advancing a company's strategic plan. Forman holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Duke University, with concentrations in finance and economics. "Larry's experience will be invaluable as we do more acquisitions and alliances to help us grow our business," said Brown. "He has the experience to ensure the investments we make bring value to our customers and to our shareholders." Reporting to Rediker, Beladi will provide strategic, acquisition and alliance guidance and support to accelerate growth within Standard Register's Document Management, Fulfillment Services and Label Solutions business units. Prior to joining Standard Register in 1996, she served in a variety of technical, marketing and strategic-planning positions for NCR Corporation/AT&T, most recently as associate vice president of industry marketing. She holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Dayton and a bachelor's degree in psychology from Purdue University. "Donna's technical background combined with her knowledge of our businesses and markets will help us to identify and create total solutions for targeted vertical market segments," Rediker said. "Donna, Michael and Larry together are the enterprise value team. They will drive alignment of strategies and resources to help Standard Register accelerate growth and deliver the greatest value to shareholders, customers and associates for the long term."
