Autologic Workflow Powers The Syracuse Post-Standard

Press release from the issuing company

Prepress System Offers Custom Integration for Superior Results Thousand Oaks, CA – March 26, 2002 – Autologic, an Agfa Company, has been selected as the workflow provider for The Post-Standard. The paper, based in Syracuse, New York, uses Autologic’s workflow solutions to provide custom integration with its press control system, giving the paper the ability to keep the presses running non-stop. Syracuse has a unique situation: their press has the ability to change plates on the fly at full press speed, without stopping for edition-to-edition page changes. As such, The Post-Standard found it would need special software to provide tracking from the page being output to a plate ready to be placed on the press. "Autologic is writing custom software for us, called Page Change Management software, that will enable us to schedule and track all pages and plates. It will take into account the complexities of managing plate output from an editorial as well as production point of view," said Chris Becker, Director of Information Systems, The Post-Standard. In addition to the custom software, the Post-Standard also uses Autologic’s Output Manager, APS Plateroom Manager, GRAFIX RIPs, APS PagePair, APS WebView, Netproof, Pre-Check, Image Controllers and APS 3850 Imagesetters – the de-facto standard in the newspaper industry today -- in its workflow. "The software will assist editorial users in the planning and scheduling of page production in the newsroom. We need to get our pages to plate or film, in the most efficient, error-free way, and we are relying on Autologic to get us there," Becker added. "We are very pleased to see The Post-Standard using the power of Autologic’s workflow to make a great product even better for its readers," said Jack Knadjian, Worldwide General Manager, Newspaper Business. "Now that Autologic and Agfa Corporation are operating as one, we expect to be able to provide even better solutions for Syracuse and all our current and future customers as well," Knadjian added.
