T/R Systems and Ricoh Announce Availability of MicroPress X Series

Press release from the issuing company

Scalable server family meets broad customer needs ATLANTA--March 25, 2002-- T/R SYSTEMS, INC., a leader in developing innovative solutions for the management and production of digital documents, and Ricoh Corporation, a provider of leading-edge printing technologies, announced today the immediate availability of T/R Systems' MicroPress X Series document production servers for use with Ricoh's high-volume Aficio black & white Digital Imaging Systems. T/R Systems' innovative MicroPress X Series is at the heart of Ricoh's print-on-demand (POD) solution. The MicroPress is a document production server for POD customers that bridges the gap between low-volume workgroup printing and high-volume centralized printing. By combining powerful document "make-ready'' capabilities and advanced job management with advanced workflow tools and unique print device connectivity options, the MicroPress X Series provides customers with a scalable production printing system. The MicroPress X Series includes the MicroPress SX, DX and MX models, each of which addresses a different segment of the POD market from low- to high-volume. The MicroPress X Series supports the Ricoh Aficio 551, 700, 1085 and 1105 Digital Imaging Systems. The Aficio 551 and 700 are departmental systems that print at a rated speed of 55 and 70 pages per minute, respectively. Built to handle demanding production environments, the Aficio 1085 and 1105 systems print at rated speeds of 85 and 105 pages per minute, respectively. All systems offer outstanding production-level image quality, with superior document finishing, including three-hole punching and multi-position stapling. The MicroPress X Series will support any combination of these engines, with the MicroPress MX supporting up to 12 devices. "We are excited to build upon our solid relationship with Ricoh by offering connectivity with the MicroPress X Series,'' said Mike Kohlsdorf, president and CEO of T/R Systems. "The result is a very powerful solution for a broad range of Ricoh customers.'' "We have experienced success with the MicroPress connected to Ricoh devices in high-end POD environments and expect even greater success with the much broader appeal of the MicroPress X Series,'' said Jim Ivy, president of Ricoh's Office Product Group. "Pairing the MicroPress X Series with the enhanced capabilities of our Aficio products allows us to deliver a unique and powerful solution to our print-on-demand customers.'' The MicroPress SX, DX, and MX document production servers are now available through select Ricoh Corporation dealers and direct sales locations.
