SPARTANBURG, SC – Exopack, formerly the flexible packaging business of International Paper, has installed three additional PrintVision/9000NT automatic video-based print inspection systems from Advanced Vision Technology (AVT), the industry's leading supplier of automatic web inspection systems. These newest installations will increase the number to eight AVT systems installed throughout Exopack's operations. At the Tomah, Wisconsin facility, Exopack has installed PrintVision/9000NT's on both a new Fischer & Krecke Flexpress 16S 10-color, high-speed, C.I. flexographic press and a Windmoller & Holscher Astraflex C.I. 8-color flexographic press. At the company's Spartanburg, South Carolina facility, the PrintVision/9000NT installation is on a Windmoller & Holscher Starflex C.I. press. The three presses produce ultra high-quality flexible packaging. The company has a network of nine manufacturing facilities across the U.S. producing both multi-wall and plastic flexible packaging. AVT’s PrintVision solutions use machine vision technology to sample the running web and compare it to master images stored in the system memory during start-up. Press operators can set independent tolerance parameters for process faults including color variations, spots, streaks, register and mis-prints. When these tolerances are exceeded, visual and or audio alarms are activated. With the instant alert feature, operators are not tethered to the press control console and can confidently move to other areas of the press to check on additional facets of press performance during the run.
