Schawk Establishes Regional Asian Pacific Headquarters

Press release from the issuing company

Singapore Facility to Serve as Central Hub DES PLAINES, Ill., March 15 -- Schawk, Inc., the world's leading provider of digital brand image management solutions to the consumer products packaging and advertising and promotions markets announced today that it has relocated its regional Asian Pacific headquarters in Singapore to serve as a central hub for the company's work in Asia. Operating under the name Schawk Asia, this 10,000-square foot state-of- the-art facility serves as a corporate base for Schawk's existing Asian production facilities -- located in Penang and Kuala Lumpur; Malaysia; Kobe, Japan and Shanghai, China -- and as a front-end logistical hub for the integrated solutions Schawk delivers throughout Asia. The company's work in Asia originates from multiple locations throughout North America, Europe and Asia. In addition to centralizing workflow support services, the Singapore facility will provide multilingual front-end production solutions that include creative design, art production, multilingual typesetting, technical feasibility evaluations and ongoing technical and special project support. The local Schawk Asia team currently numbers over 200 employees in five countries with some representing the company on-site at client locations. Schawk Asia's typesetting capabilities support a variety of languages including Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Thai, Bahasa, Arabic and Tagalog. David A. Schawk, president and CEO of Schawk, Inc. reaffirms the company's commitment to the Asian Pacific market: "We will continue to enhance our global service offerings in response to the needs of our clients. The growth of our business in Asia over the past year clearly demonstrates that the need is there ... and that consumer products companies based in the U.S. and in Asia recognize the value of the strategic solutions that Schawk provides.'' According to Brad Wills, managing director of Schawk Asia, "Schawk has basically exported a proven, efficient workflow process and adapted it to create an international model. This allows us to respond more quickly while delivering the same high quality and turnaround times that clients have grown to expect in the U.S.'' Added Wills, "We chose Singapore as our HQ site because it best met most of our criteria. Singapore's cutting-edge, high- bandwidth telecommunications infrastructure is critical to Schawk's growth plans in the region. There's a large pool of well-educated, technically literate native English-speakers and a stable environment which is necessary to support our complex business. Singapore is also home to many of Schawk's global clients.'' The new Schawk Asia hub is Schawk's solution to the myriad of issues that face many global consumer products companies today. Bob Miller, director of sales and marketing for Schawk Asia, notes that "Most of our clients now manufacture products in Asia for both domestic and international distribution. Many have discovered that the problems associated with managing a traditional local workflow grow exponentially when the workflow is exported. By physically being here in Asia, we understand the differences in language and corporate culture within the supplier network that our customers have to contend with, and we work with these suppliers to alleviate problems whether they be technological, quality, workflow or deadline issues.''
