HP Broadens Line of Multifunction Business Systems

Press release from the issuing company

PALO ALTO, Calif.--March 12, 2002-- Hewlett-Packard Company today introduced an expanded portfolio of multifunction products (MFPs), services, software and support options that make it easier for businesses to reduce costs by managing information globally from a single integrated device. Three new HP LaserJet MFP business systems allow organizations to capture, integrate, archive and distribute information to optimize productivity and streamline communications. Engineered to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs, the systems can aid businesses of all sizes. By enabling users to print, copy, color scan, fax and digitally send documents to Internet and e-mail addresses, HP MFP business systems can help customers optimize their work environments without sacrificing user access, convenience or productivity. In addition, the new portfolio is designed to simplify IT infrastructures by providing organizations with the HP services, products and support they need to standardize on HP configurations and supplies management, robust networking connectivity and management solutions, and Internet-enabled printing. In addition to the MFP systems, HP unveiled its first large-format HP Designjet color copier for technical professionals and an external print server that allows workgroups to share HP USB-supported printers on a network or across the Internet. Convergence Driving Enormous Changes in Office Productivity According to Gartner, Inc., organizations that typically print and then distribute paper documents have begun to transition to new workflow processes in which digital content can be stored, retrieved, integrated and distributed whenever and wherever it's needed. When combined with a well-planned "rightsizing'' of underused assets, these workflow enhancements can save businesses between 10 and 30 percent of their operational costs when fully deployed.(1) "For many of our customers, MFPs represent a key opportunity to reduce costs and improve productivity within their enterprises,'' stated Vyomesh Joshi, president, HP Imaging and Printing Systems. "We believe the customer value delivered by these business systems will play a critical role in accelerating HP's growth in this evolving market. Additionally, customers can expect to see a further broadening of our multifunction product and solutions offerings as HP continues to aggressively invest in this area.''
