Press release from the issuing company

PALO ALTO, Calif.--March 8, 2002--Hewlett-Packard Company today announced that its Web site www.hp.com ranked No. 1 in the Summit Strategies U.S. benchmark report for e-business Web sites. The report evaluated HP.com against other top vendors, including IBM, Dell, Sun, Compaq, Microsoft and Cisco, as well as 20 other e-business Web sites. Citing HP.com as the industry's "best practice'' for a Web site, the Summit Strategies fourth quarter 2001 report states that HP has realigned its Web site content to meet sophisticated marketing requirements. HP.com was ranked No. 2 in Summit Strategies' previous report. "HP's continued progress is clearly evident in several areas this quarter,'' said Marty Gruhn, vice president and practice director, Summit Strategies. "The additional two content units on the home page, `home & home office' and `business,' clearly target specific audiences. Additionally, the newly devised business-portal home page allows for clear and accurate use by the visitor, regardless of the topic of interest.'' "HP's ranking in the Summit Strategies report demonstrates our commitment to providing customers the best online experience,'' said Stephanie Acker-Moy, general manager, HP.com and Information Management. "Our No. 1 ranking is the result of our goal to provide visitors with consistent, efficient access to a wide breadth of HP information and Web-based resources.'' The nine areas that were judged for the report include site design, online marketing, navigation/architecture and e-commerce. HP.com received the No. 1 ranking in each of these categories giving it the overall No. 1 rank. Additional benchmark information can be found on the Summit Strategies, Inc.
