Konica High-Volume Products Receive Editors Choice Awards

Press release from the issuing company

7075 and 7165 Recognized for Advanced Digital Technology and Rich Feature Sets WINDSOR, Conn.--March 4, 2002--Konica Business Technologies, Inc. (Konica), the innovation leader in digital imaging solutions and a subsidiary of Konica Corporation, today announced that two of its high-volume products, the 7075 production printing system and the 7165 workgroup document system, received "Editor's Choice'' awards from Better Buys for Business, publisher of the nation's leading independent buyer's guides for office equipment. Awards are issued to those products in each category that deliver a maximum value to customers -- the highest-level performance at the most reasonable price. The Konica 7075 and the Konica 7165 were recognized, respectively, in the "The High-Volume Copier & Multifunctional Guide,'' one of Better Buys for Business' 10 independent consumer guides for imaging equipment. Better Buys for Business cited the 7075's "advanced high-volume capabilities'' and was impressed by the 7165's "advanced technology and paper handling capabilities.'' "These awards from Better Buys for Business affirm Konica's continued excellence in the high-volume segment, a segment which remains a main area of focus for us,'' said Kevin Kern, vice president, product development and support, Konica Business Technologies. "We understand the demands of the production and departmental workgroup environments and we will continue to provide high-volume, progressive products to this market to meet their needs.'' The 7075 is a powerful digital printing/copying solution, balancing high-volume copying, printing and finishing, while delivering the latest workflow enhancements. Following a comprehensive review, Better Buys for Business rated the 7075's productivity as "much better than average'' when up against comparable models from other vendors. Highlights of the 7075 include a maximum monthly capacity of 500,000 copies, developer yield of 1,000,000 copies and toner yield of 55,000 copies, It also features advanced paper handling capabilities, including support for 110-pound index from all of its paper drawers and a standard 100-sheet document feeder. Reviewers lauded the 7075's enhanced touch-screen control panel that includes a larger display and more functionality from the main screen than previous models. Specifically recognized was a new feature that allows users to view the queue of both copy and print jobs on the control panel's display, enabling them to promote, demote or delete the jobs. Also acknowledged were the 7075's standard features, including: image overlay, auto image layout, image rotation and proof copy mode, as well as the optional 4.3GB hard drive which enables time/date stamping, watermarking and page numbering functions. "While on the surface the model gives the appearance of being simply a faster version of certain older Konica siblings, this couldn't be further from the truth,'' said Jonathan Bees, editor, Better Buys for Business. "The 7075 is an excellent machine and a worthy recipient of our 'Editor's Choice' rating.'' The "Editor's Choice'' award was also issued to the 7165 for its advanced technology and paper handling capabilities, at a cost-effective price. The 7165 posted impressive results on productivity tests and was recognized for its improved image quality through the use of Konica's new Simitri Polymerized Toner. The 7165 and its sister product, the 7155, are the first high-volume models to use Simitri, an organically-produced, polymerized toner resulting in a smaller, more uniform particle size and a more environmentally friendly manufacturing process. The 7165 was honored for a similar feature set to the 7075, including support for 110-pound index from all drawers, an enhanced document feeder that holds up to 100 sheets and scans at 65 ppm, and a Section 508 compliant modular touch-screen control panel. Better Buys for Business reviewers were also impressed by the 7165's connectivity. Using an optional Konica-developed embedded print controller, the 7165 offers "push'' scanning capabilities such as scan to email. "The 7155 and 7165 are two of the strongest machines at this level of the high-volume market,'' said Bees. "They have reasonable prices, great paper handling and productivity, and innovative technology.'' Pricing and Availability The 7075 and 7165 are currently available through Konica's North American direct sales, authorized dealer and value-added reseller network. The manufacturer's suggested retail price for the 7075 is $33,000 and the 7165 is $23,500.
