Adobe CEO Addresses Publishing Industry Challenges at Annual AAP Meeting

SAN JOSE, Calif.--Feb. 28, 2002--Adobe president and CEO Bruce Chizen will present the increasingly important role of software in the future of publishing to the Association of American Publishers (AAP) during its annual meeting in Washington, D.C today. Chizen will introduce a software industry perspective by outlining the technological challenges and opportunities facing publishers. Other speakers during the meeting include Georgia Senator Max Cleland, author Scott Turow, and Disney chairman and CEO Michael Eisner. "The publishing industry is vitally important to Adobe,'' said Bruce Chizen, president and CEO of Adobe. "Last year, publishers went through one of the toughest years ever and are now facing the parallel challenges of reviving revenues while laying the foundation for the future of their businesses. The good news is that in the network publishing world of the future, publishers will be able to streamline workflows and provide consumers with the visually-rich content that they are demanding in all forms of communication.'' The AAP is the principal trade association of the book publishing industry with its approximately 310 members located throughout the United States. AAP members publish hardcover and paperback books, audio and videotapes, computer software, online databases, CD-ROMs and educational materials, and provide looseleaf materials, electronic products and services.
