T/R Systems Digital StoreFront to Target In-Plant and Quick-Printer Markets

Press release from the issuing company

ATLANTA--Feb. 18, 2002-- T/R SYSTEMS announced today broad commercial availability of Digital StoreFront, a fully automated web storefront solution. Digital StoreFront simplifies print job submission and proofing over the Internet. It automates quoting while maximizing device utilization and job turnaround for in-plant, facilities management (FM) and quick print operations. Digital StoreFront is a customizable, print center-branded server/software solution that print providers own, host and control. The business rules based model allows service providers to modify their storefront as needed and print center hosting ensures the confidentiality of customer information. Since Digital StoreFront is not based on an Application Service Provider (ASP) system, there are no hosting or transaction fees. "We believe Digital StoreFront will be a breakthrough product for the print service provider and its customers,'' said Mike Kohlsdorf, President and CEO, T/R Systems. "We applied our knowledge and experience in production printing to provide a powerful e-business solution that eliminates redundant and time-consuming processes while improving convenience, productivity and profitability.'' Digital StoreFront's easy-to-use, fully automated processes allow customers to securely submit native files over the Internet. The documents are automatically converted to PDF so the customer can proof them immediately. Once the customer provides specifications for the job, Digital StoreFront generates an on-line quote and order confirmation. Subsequently, a job ticket is created and the file is automatically submitted into the print provider's workflow. To increase printing productivity, Digital StoreFront integrates with a wide range of printing systems, including the MicroPress. Digital StoreFront's complete automation capabilities reduce the production cycle, decrease the opportunity for error and eliminate redundant data entry in the print shop. Employee intervention is not necessary for document conversion, nor is it needed for the creation of on-line proofs, quotes, job tickets or job status information. Files can be either automatically routed to production devices without operator intervention, or held for scheduling. Billing information can be automatically routed to billing and accounting systems to ensure accuracy. "Digital StoreFront is a simple and effective solution to a very complicated problem,'' said Heath Cajandig, Digital Production Manager at the University of Missouri. "It allows us to offer services that meet the needs of our customers on their terms, while at the same time streamlining our digital workflow.'' Before today's formal release of Digital StoreFront, T/R Systems had installed more than a dozen systems for a variety of customers. Digital StoreFront is priced between $30,000 and $70,000, based on model and options selected. Optional features can be added to Digital StoreFront to fill specific service needs for a range of print center environments. Some options increase offerings to print center customers, such as unique pricing, on-line catalog, credit card billing and business card design. Optional integration to existing Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) servers, enterprise database integration, non-MicroPress integration and billing & accounting integration further increase print center automation. Customer Relationship Management and master interface options deliver up to date information for managing jobs and accounts. Many of these advanced capabilities are included in Digital StoreFront Enterprise.
