Online Proof Patent for ImageX, Will Seek to Monetize to Service Providers

Press release from the issuing company

KIRKLAND, Wash., Feb. 5-- ImageX announced it has received an additional Notice of Allowance covering online proofing of print-ready files from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Based on this notice, a patent is expected to be issued soon. The patent notification covers the components necessary to convert a graphic image file from PostScript to Bitmap format. This ability allows users without access to a PDF viewer to see a graphic proof of their orders online before releasing for production. With this filing, ImageX now has notification for patent coverage on most common file conversion processes related to technology-enabled printing, including PostScript to PDF and PDF to PostScript. “The ability to make online modifications to printed materials and then automatically see accurate print-ready proofs delivers significant cost efficiencies both to our customers' and our bottom line,'' said Tim Dowling, chief operating officer, ImageX. “We believe that the technology that we have developed for file conversion and on-screen proofing will be the industry standard workflow for previewing a print-ready proof in the future, and with this most recent notification we are primed to monetize our technology to other service providers in the printing industry.''
