Pindar Orders Second 48pp MAN Roland LITHOMAN

February 4, 2002: Pindar plc, Scarborough/England, confirmed that it has placed an order for its second 48 page MAN Roland LITHOMAN web press, which is to be delivered during 2002. The new purchase is a 40,000 copies per hour, 4-unit press, incorporating a dryer with integrated afterburner. Commenting on the order, Andrew Dalton, Chief Executive of Pindar plc, Print Division, said, "This announcement, from what is probably the most technologically advanced and largest private content management and printing business in the UK industry, marks a significant vote of confidence on several fronts. "Firstly, confidence in our own strategy for servicing all requirements in the business-to-business and business-to-consumer markets, including catalogue, financial and other specialist print needs. "Secondly, confidence in our ability to further improve productivity and profit by using the latest and best equipment and management processes available. "And thirdly, confidence in MAN Roland and its products." Commenting on the order, Norman Revill, Director of Web Sales at UK MAN Roland company PPS, said, "I was able to develop a good working relationship with Pindar from the outset. When they installed the first 48 page LITHOMAN in 1999 I felt that it would not be long before they purchased a second. I am very glad that their experience of the first LITHOMAN has provided sufficient encouragement for them to stay with us for the second. "The industry is quite clearly going through a difficult recession, however, this investment will establish Pindar as one of the best equipped and most technically advanced commercial printing companies in the UK. This will enable the company to pursue new possibilities and attract new customers." Dalton also paid tribute to the positive relationships that exist with Pindar employees and suppliers alike. He also stated that the company was increasingly in demand from sophisticated buyers wanting to work with a group that listens to customer needs and plans investment to help meet those needs. "This second 48 page press is a natural and logical development to satisfy those needs, and is fully justified by the Scarborough plants significant improvement in results over the past two years," he added.
