PlateRite 8000II To Handle A Wider Range Of Plate Formats ROLLING MEADOWS, IL -- Screen (USA) announced today the release of the PlateRite 8000II, a new thermal CTP recorder in its PlateRite series. The new model, which debuts at the Graphics of the Americas show (booth #711) in Miami next week, meets the needs of medium-sized printers who have a wide range of different format presses. It also features support for smaller 0.32"clamps that are often required by web offset printers. The PlateRite 8000II broadens a formidable CTP lineup Screen offers. The PlateRite family already includes the highly popular PT-R4000II (4-page), PT-R8000 (8-page), and high speed, Power CTP PlateRite 8600 (8-page) devices. Many printing companies with multiple presses have asked for a CTP device capable of handling all of their plate requirements. The PlateRite 8000II can output plates for most presses and has a minimum plate size of 17.7" x 14.5"(450mm x 370mm), and maximum size of 45.6" x 37"(1,160 mm x 940mm). When outputting 40.5" x 37" plates (1,030mm x 800mm) at 2,400 dpi, it can produce 13 plates per hour. The thermal PlateRite series features Screen’s unique clamping and automatic drum balancing systems, which provide the stability required to spin different sized plates at high speeds. The series is also well known for its optional automatic in-line plate punching. This feature is an important reason behind the high-precision registration and quick makeready times enjoyed by many current PlateRite users. SCREEN – PlateRite 8000II Automation is of central importance to many CTP users and is viewed as the key to making the most profitable use of CTP systems. The new PlateRite 8000II will feature a single cassette autoloader option and a multi-cassette autoloader option similar to those now available for current PlateRite models. The single cassette autoloader can hold up to 100 plates and automatically removes interleaf paper. The multi–cassette autoloader is attached as an extension to the single autoloader and comes standard with three cassettes. Two more cassettes can be added so a full configuration enables a staggering 500 plates of five different sizes to be loaded without operator intervention. An automatic processor bridge is also available to extend automation to the plate processor. Front-end systems for the PlateRite series include Trueflow, the world’s first Web browser-operated PDF workflow solution, the widely installed TaigaSPACE system, and a Harlequin-based HQ-510 RIP. Users of these systems have the option of employing Spekta screening, the remarkable AM/FM hybrid screening solution which combines the best features of both conventional and stochastic screening and achieves 300 lpi quality under 150 lpi printing conditions. Shipments of the PT-R8000II will begin by the end of January, and can be seen in booth #711 from Feb. 1-3 at the Miami Convention Center.
