International Paper Signs Multi-Year Subscription Contract with Nistevo

Press release from the issuing company

Network Membership to Deliver Millions in Annual Cost Savings MINNEAPOLIS--Jan. 14, 2002--Nistevo reports that International Paper has signed a two-year subscription contract to the Nistevo Network for centralized contract management and distributed transportation execution for an estimated 450,000 annual truckload shipments. International Paper selected Nistevo's Network for its proven return-on-investment (ROI) and rapid deployment model that is adaptable to their existing IT strategies. Recognizing Millions in Cost Savings with Automated Transportation Execution Within less than three months, International Paper is expanding its initial implementation of three sites to 20 locations. Eventually over 80 locations across its organization will be connected and using the Nistevo Network. The solution enables the company to centrally define, negotiate and manage their transportation contracts with over 250 carriers. Managed online, these contracts will be used by their distributed locations - including mills, plants and distribution sites - to ensure on-contract purchasing and compliance. In addition, by tracking and tendering shipments through an online, automated process, International Paper will replace many of the organization's manual processes in logistics. "Using the Nistevo Network enables us to streamline our intra-company logistics for the first time. After deploying just a handful of locations, we saw immediate benefit and elected to expand our subscription across our organization,'' said Bill Crawford, vice president of logistics at International Paper. "Our enterprise-level expansion will save the company approximately ten times the subscription fee off of our annual truckload transportation spend through on-contract purchasing and the automation of many manual business processes. We are presently exploring additional savings opportunities with Nistevo through continuous moves and collaborative tours with other members or International Paper locations.'' Achieving a Rapid, Non-Invasive Implementation Nistevo's Network is designed to deliver value to its customers in as little as 65 days. All Nistevo members access a single instance of the hosted software allowing for immediate connectivity to all shipper and carrier members, secure management of their distributed logistics operations, and continuous feature delivery. "We selected Nistevo due to its rapid deployment capability,'' said J. Chris Scalet, senior vice president and CIO at International Paper. "It easily connects to our existing infrastructure without impacting current system activities. Nistevo will deliver returns to our bottom line and is flexible enough to adapt to our evolving environment.'' "International Paper's recent subscription contract reflects the market's growing adoption of network-based software. This model offers rapid delivery, lower risk to the customer, and non-invasive deployment, attributes that are particularly attractive in today's uncertain economy,'' said Kevin Lynch, president and CEO of Nistevo. "Nistevo is pleased to have such a leading organization in our Network, and using our scalable contract and execution modules to achieve millions in savings.''
