Contex Introduces the New WIDEimage 2.4 Wide Format Scanning Software

Press release from the issuing company

Contex Scanning Technology, the leading manufacturer of wide format color scanners and related productivity software introduces a new generation of the Professional Scanning application, "WIDEimage 2.4". WIDEimage is the ideal tool for scanning, viewing, printing and color feature extraction. WIDEimage incorporates the latest technology for advanced image operations for the demanding market of GIS, CAD, Desktop Publishing and Drawing Archival. WIDEimage 2.4 is a fully featured Scanning Application that supports all current Contex scanners. What sets WIDEimage apart from it's competitors is the speed, ease of use and the built-in image operation features. Furthermore, WIDEimage can scan into NTSC color space or the new sRGB color space standard. With the sRGB color space, the image data will be adjusted so it displays correctly on a monitor and image files can be imported into RIP software without color deviations. What's new in WIDEimage is the advanced auto size detection that automatically detects the size of your originals, the auto-alignment of skewed drawings and the on-the-fly rotation/mirroring and inversion of the image, all in one seamless operation. Furthermore WIDEimage has now build-in support for Microsoft's Still Image Architecture (STI) enhancing the interoperability for SCSI or USB based scanners. WIDEimage also incorporates the latest technology in image enhancement such as sharpening, softening, blurring and Contex's patented 2D adaptive thresholding with background suppression and edge enhancement. With Contex's three unique copy modes, for the first time the industry can combine adaptive thresholding with error diffusion half toning for both cleaning up difficult drawings and ensuring that every detail is printable.
