Wallace Named To Forbes Platinum 400 List

Press release from the issuing company

LISLE, Ill.--Jan. 9, 2002--Wallace has been listed as one of the Best Big Companies in America on the Forbes Platinum 400 List, which recognizes large organizations with outstanding profitability and growth. The list, which ran in the January 7, 2002 issue of Forbes Magazine, is comprised of more than 1,000 publicly traded corporations with revenues of at least $1 billion. Companies were assigned to 23 broad industry categories, and then measured against their peers for profitability (measured by return on capital) and growth (sales and earnings per share). To take into account both recent and long-term performance, the measures included results from the last 12 months as well as the last five years. Wallace was included as one of the top Business Supplies organizations. The entire Platinum 400 list is available on Forbes Magazine's website at http://www.forbes.com/platinum400/. "We are very pleased to have been named to the Forbes Platinum 400 List,'' said David Jones, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "It reaffirms our belief that Wallace has been an industry leader in the past. And we feel strongly that our recently announced restructuring and cost savings initiatives, combined with the effective execution of our long-term strategy, will enable us to further improve company performance, better serve our customers, build shareholder value, and ultimately maintain our status as the industry leader.''
