KPG Completes Acquisition of Imation Color Proofing Business

Press release from the issuing company

Norwalk, Connecticut, USA –Kodak Polychrome Graphics (KPG) announced today that it has completed its acquisition of Imation’s worldwide color proofing and color software businesses. As a new year begins, KPG’s broad portfolio of film, plate and digital proofing products will expand to include offerings in analog, inkjet and virtual proofing, a color front end for digital printing, and color management tools. "KPG's acquisition of Imation's color proofing and color software businesses does more than just broaden our portfolio," said Jeff Jacobson, Chief Executive Officer. "We’re beginning a new chapter in KPG’s history, one in which we will partner with our customers in new ways, offering new solutions and services. Our focus, however, remains the same – to help all of our customers succeed in the ever changing graphic arts industry." KPG is now beginning the process of bringing its product line together with the newly acquired products, including the full Matchprint proofing line, Color Fidelity Module, ColorKey, Rainbow Proofing Systems Models 2040/4700 as well as graphic arts films and Viking plates. The integration process is expected to be complete by the end of the first quarter. "People from both companies have worked extremely hard to ensure that all customers needs will be met from the very first day of business after the close. A seamless transition for all customers is our objective. Customers can be confident that KPG continues to invest in and support the color proofing and color software products and technologies that we have acquired," said Jacobson. "During the transition, sales and service contacts remain the same. If changes occur, customers will receive advance notification." Under terms of the sale, KPG has acquired Imation’s full portfolio of color proofing, film, plate, and color software offerings, as well as the portion of Imation’s Weatherford, Oklahoma facility that is dedicated to Color Technologies manufacturing. Approximately 500 employees are transferring from Imation to KPG as part of the transaction. "The acquisition is a sign that the restructuring program KPG launched in 2000 was successful and that KPG has moved beyond its formative stage," Jacobson said. With the addition of these products to the KPG portfolio, the company’s technologies have received an impressive 14 Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (GATF) InterTech Awards.
