ScenicSoft Releases TrapWise 3.5 with PDF 1.4 Native Workflow
Press release from the issuing company
Lynnwood, Washington — ScenicSoft has released TrapWise 3.5, its best-selling stand-alone trapping solution. New features in TrapWise 3.5 include the ability to import, trap, and output Adobe PDF 1.4 files; support for trapping transparent PDF 1.4 objects; improved support for opaque inks; and new hot folder-based automation capabilities.
By building upon a strong and proven trapping engine, and by integrating support for the newest industry file formats and prepress processes, TrapWise 3.5 continues to set the trend in digital trapping. TrapWise 3.5 can import, trap, and output Portable Document Format (PDF) 1.4 files without converting to PostScript, allowing full control over OPI, color mapping, and overprinting features. Even the challenging PDF 1.4 transparency feature is fully supported. TrapWise users have always identified the grayscale previewer, which can highlight traps in red to make them easy to see, as one of the application’s most valuable tools. The new TrapWise 3.5 grayscale previewer can also mark 8-bit images, and transparent objects in green. This functionality allows the user to easily detect these special areas and apply different trap zone settings for those objects. While extremely useful in general, this feature is crucial to handling PDF 1.4 transparency objects appropriately.
Improved support for opaque inks in TrapWise 3.5 gives the user unmatched flexibility when trapping metallic inks such as gold and silver, and other specialty inks. The product’s renowned interactive mode of operation and the advanced automation achieved through integration with the bundled Color Central Lite software are complemented by the new TrapWise hot folder automation capabilities.
"TrapWise stays at the top of its game," says Paul Verwilt, ScenicSoft TrapWise product manager. "Support for PDF 1.4 in TrapWise 3.5 goes all the way, and I am very proud to announce that TrapWise is the first shipping trapping solution in the market that can appropriately trap files with transparent objects. Now that TrapWise supports both PDF input files and PDF output, we have come full circle and our users will be able to retain the advantages of the PDF file format throughout the complete workflow."
ScenicSoft TrapWise 3.5 is available immediately. Windows NT/Windows 2000/ Windows XP, and Mac OS versions of TrapWise 3.5 ship on the standard product CD. The "one hardware key fits all" iKey USB solution enables users who work on both platforms to operate interchangeably with the same hardware key and license.
