Press release from the issuing company

Nine years after the sale of the first M-600 press to Imprimeries Decoster in France and only two years after the delivery of the 1000th printing unit to Artisan press in the United Kingdom, the 1500th M-600 printing unit has just left the Heidelberg factory in Montataire to be delivered shortly as part of a complete press line at the North American printer Courier. Dedicated to short and medium runs high quality magazine and catalogue printing, the M-600, which prints up to 55 000 copies per hour, quickly made its mark on the 16 page press market: It soon became a standard for commercial web printing and an excellent production tool for successful printers wishing to acquire or consolidate a leading position in the commercial or magazine printing markets. Based on the close cooperation of French, German and American Engineering Departments, the M-600 soon became highly valued for its reliability and print quality. This 1500th unit is a landmark sale for the Montataire production site, which is proud of the success of this press, which has been continually enhanced since its launch in 1992. 308 M-600 presses have been sold throughout the world. The Autoplate system has made a significant contribution to this success. Patented by Heidelberg, this offers 100 % automatic plate change of 8 plates on the press in less than 3 minutes without breaking the paper web. Highly appreciated for short and medium run jobs, the Autoplate is offered on all M-600 presses and has already allowed numerous printers to make considerable productivity gains. At a time when reliability, print quality and productivity are of the essence, the M-600 offers printers a secure investment in the 16-page press market.
