Heidelberg at IPEX 2002 - Digital and Integrated

Press release from the issuing company

Under the motto "Your connection in the world of print media" in Hall 8 and parts of Hall 7 (covering a total of more than 5,000 m2), Heidelberg will be demonstrating to visitors to IPEX how media service providers and printers can integrate their processes. At next year's key print trade show, being held in Birmingham, U.K., between April 9 and 17, 2002, the company will be presenting five solutions for various market segments, including industrial print, digital print, commercial print, commercial web and postpress. The key areas of focus will be on integration and digital print solutions. Prinect creates transparency in the printroom "It is essential for the whole process to be standardized and to use open interfaces. For an end-to-end workflow, this also includes upstream and downstream stages such as prepress and postpress", explains Dr. Klaus Spiegel, the Director responsible for sheetfed offset at Heidelberg. In this sector, Heidelberg's Prinect system offers customers modular workflow components that cover the entire value-added chain. At the heart of the IPEX stand is the integration center and Prinect, which brings together all the threads of the various processes. Integration takes place on two levels. Firstly, on the production level where, for example, control data is relayed from the prepress right through to the cutter. Secondly – and this is new – on the business management level. Heidelberg will be presenting its new Management Information System (MIS) Prinance, a professional costing and order processing software system for the print industry. At IPEX, the company will be unveiling its new Prinect module for quality control. Heidelberg will also be demonstrating its new, modular Print Color Management service, which ensures maximum color fidelity and effective production from prepress to press. At IPEX, Heidelberg will also be presenting the Prosetter family - a new generation of CtP recorders that harness the power of violet laser technology. The 74 and 102 plate formats on display are tailor-made for Heidelberg presses. The Prosetter is controlled with MetaDimension 2.6, offering a cost-effective solution for entry into PDF-supported workflows. Complete portfolio in the digital print sector Heidelberg is well equipped to live up to its commitment to becoming the largest supplier of professional digital print solutions. Visitors will experience live demonstrations on the NexPress digital color press and can see for themselves its amazing versatility. Variable data will be printed on different grades of paper and in different formats, up to a maximum of A3. Print on demand in the black/white sector will be demonstrated by the Digimaster 9110. Outputting 110 A4 sheets per minute, this system is a truly high-performance press. The Direct Imaging presses Quickmaster DI 46 Pro and Speedmaster 74 DI can also produce short run jobs in color. The Quickmaster DI Pro has been on the market since fall 2001, and represents the next level of professional direct imaging.
