Charlotte, N.C., September 26, 2008 – Before the first school bell rang this fall in Fort Mill, S.C., flexo teacher Jerry Howell and student Scott Forsyth of Fort Mill High School (FMHS) got a head start on the school year by printing the 2008-2009 FMHS parking permits in time for registration.

With the help of Raflatac, which donated the label stock, and Flexo Trade Services, which offered the use of its state-of-the-art printing facilities, Howell and Forsyth printed 3,600 permits in one day.

As a class project last spring, Howell’s students submitted two designs for the parking permits. From there, the class assembled the submissions into a portfolio for presentation to the school’s administration. Student Daniel Hughes created the design that was chosen, and Forsyth volunteered to come in during one of the last days of summer to print the labels.

“Projects like this are great real-world experiences for our students,” said Howell. “It gives them great pride to see their work used for official and professional purposes, and it drives home the importance of flexo in our daily lives.”

Forsyth, like all FMHS flexo students, received much of the training that made this project possible thanks to the donation of a FlexSys™ Press Simulator to Fort Mill High School by global anilox supplier Harper Corporation of America.
