Heidelberg to Bundle DocSmart into ImageSmart Workflow
Press release from the issuing company
BANGALORE, India--Nov. 15, 2001--Wipro Technologies, a global provider of IT services and MosaicSoft, Inc., an enterprise software company, today announced that they had signed a deal with Heidelberg for DocSmart, an enterprise document and information management solution, jointly developed by Wipro and MosaicSoft.
The OEM agreement gives Heidelberg, the world's foremost supplier of print media solutions, worldwide distribution rights for DocSmart and allows Heidelberg to integrate DocSmart as the Document Management solution of its ImageSmart(TM) software suite. The ability to access the ImageSmart Document Library via an ODMA interface from ImageSmart Document Mastering enables streamlined production in an intensive print environment.
Showcased earlier this year at CeBit, the worlds largest IT fair held in Germany, DocSmart drew acclaim for its ability to handle large-scale document management quickly, conveniently and securely.
Written in Java, and developed using distributed component technologies (CORBA and DCOM), DocSmart's component oriented architecture supports Internet component models of both Sun and Microsoft, the leading software component technologies. DocSmart can store business information that originates from an organization's administration, engineering, manufacturing, marketing and sales efforts; and it can do the storing in a variety of electronic forms, including word processing documents, text based documents, graphics, images, CAD drawings, charts, spreadsheets, HTML pages, and e-mail messages. DocSmart also integrates into ImageSmart Document Library via an ODMA interface, giving the customer a wide range of publishing/authoring tools and has browser clients that work in the Microsoft Windows, Unix and Mac environments.
DocSmart will be bundled with ImageSmart Workflow Suite as ImageSmart Document Library, providing a document management solution for on-demand printing. Heidelberg sells the ImageSmart Workflow Suite as a complimentary software product with its high output, digital high volume printers such as the Digimaster(TM) 9110 family. Individual users who require DocSmart can obtain it through business partners who purchase the product from Heidelberg.
"We are pleased with Heidelberg's decision to use DocSmart in their total printing solutions,'' said D. Selvan, General Manager, Wipro Technologies. "The synergy between DocSmart's technology strength and Heidelberg's leadership in on-demand printing solutions will provide for new avenues in this huge emerging market. This association also goes on to prove the technical capability of the DocSmart across industries.''
Mr. Michael Hilgenberg, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at MosaicSoft said, "Heidelberg's choice of DocSmart over other document management systems for inclusion in the ImageSmart Software Suite demonstrates the strength of the DocSmart product. This is another major validation of DocSmart's gaining success in the marketplace.''
