DDAP Moves 2002 Annual Conference to New York City

MARBLEHEAD, MA – November 12, 2001 – DDAP Association, a key industry group charged with promoting the “Universal Exchange of Digital Advertising through Open Process Integration and Accredited Standards”, announced today that their 2002 Annual Conference has been moved to New York City. The conference, scheduled for February 27 through March 2, 2002, will take place at the Essex House, conveniently located on Central Park South in midtown Manhattan. "First and foremost, this decision was made in support of the ongoing recovery effort in New York City," reported co-chair Tanya Goetz, Quality & Technology Manager, U.S. News & World Reports. “We also listened to our constituents and needed to respond to the travel restrictions they are currently facing. Moving the DDAP 2002 Annual Conference was the best solution given the concentration of publishing, ad agencies, prepress, and printing companies in the New York area.” Co-chair Nubar Nakashian, Exec. Vice President, Quality House of Graphics continued, “This year's conference will showcase a range of DDAP initiatives from integrating PDF/X into your workflow to streamlining international ad delivery. Now, more than ever, our members need every digital advantage as they re-purpose digital ads for other media, including the web. The DDAP Conference offers a unique learning environment with excellent networking opportunities so conference attendees will come away with a lot more 'know how'". "In celebrating the end of our first decade, we are planning a dynamic program that will not only give credence to the milestones we have achieved, but more importantly open up pathways to a whole new digital vision," explained Alan Darling, DDAP Chair and COO/CTO, Quality House of Graphics. "During DDAP's first ten years, we successfully championed open process integration and accredited standards for the print industry; we now have the opportunity to take a leadership role in the development of a whole new digital vision of publishing. These words truly reflect the unique and challenging times we live in." Three keynote speakers are scheduled for the DDAP 10th anniversary conference: “Nina Link, Chair of Magazine Publishers of America; Michael Rogers, The Washington Post Company’s new media guru; and Grant Miller, R.R. Donnelley's Vice President of Technology will each present their unique visions,” announced Program Chair, Linda Manes Goodwin of Manes Goodwin Associates. “They promise informative and entertaining presentations as they each share their perspective of how magazines and publishing technologies will continue to mold the future. The 2002 conference promises to eclipse all prior years in the unique experience it offers.” “Building on the success of DDAP’s Digital Ad Decathlon in Georgia, I am thrilled to have Michael Weinglass as my Workflow Co-chair,” announced Barbara Hanapole, DDAP Executive Director. "Our plan is to stage a state-of-the-art Technical Resource Area which will be open throughout the conference, an interactive 'hands on' experience with new products for attendees to test drive." Initially, the 2002 DDAP Annual Conference was planned for New Orleans. The 2003 DDAP Annual Conference, “DDAP Digital Mardi Gras” will return to New Orleans in the late February/early March timeframe.
